MILAN (AP) — Sidney Crosby is out for Canada in the men’s Olympic hockey gold medal game against the United States after an apparent right knee injury. Crosby skated in a closed practice on Saturday, but he still cannot go. The 38-year-old left Canada’s quarterfinal against Czechia hurt four days ago and missed the semifinal against Finland. Connor McDavid wears the captain’s “C” again. He leads the tournament with 13 points in five games.

CORTINA D’AMPEZZO, Italy (AP) — Women are powering Team USA’s medal surge at the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics, and they are setting records along the way. Through Saturday, the next to last day of these Games, they stand at six gold medals and 17 medals in women’s events. That tops past U.S. Winter Games marks. When mixed events are included, the total climbs to 21 medals. More than 40 American women are leaving Italy with at least one medal. Gold moments include women’s hockey over Canada, wins in Alpine skiing, monobob, figure skating, and freestyle moguls. Athletes say the success keeps feeding the next wave.

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (AP) — Rondale Moore, the NFL receiver who had season-ending training camp knee injuries in each of the last two years after a standout college career at Purdue and a promising start with the Arizona Cardinals, was found dead Saturday, authorities said. He was 25. Police said Moore died of a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound. Moore was found dead in the garage of a property in his hometown of New Albany, police chief Todd Bailey said. The death remains under investigation. Floyd County Coroner Matthew Tomlin also confirmed Moore’s death. He said an autopsy would be conducted Sunday. Moore signed with the Minnesota Vikings in 2025, but he blew out his left knee while returning a punt in their first exhibition game.

MILAN (AP) — Canada has not decided whether injured captain Sidney Crosby will play in the gold medal game at the Olympics against the U.S., coach Jon Cooper said. Crosby skated in practice Saturday, and teammate Nick Suzuki said the 38-year-old center looked good on the ice. Hockey Canada closed practice to reporters to maintain a shroud of secrecy around Crosby, who left the quarterfinal game Wednesday night against Czechia with an apparent right knee injury and did not play against Finland on Friday night in the semifinals. Cooper said Crosby will only play if he can have an impact on the game.
