ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Akshay Bhatia has lived up to Arnold Palmer’s famous quote that “you must play boldly to win.” He was every bit of that at Bay Hill. The 24-year-old Bhatia rallied from five shots behind at the turn with four straight birdies and a 6-iron right at the pin to set up eagle. He shot 69 to force a playoff with Daniel Berger and beat him with a par on the first extra hole. Bhatia now has three PGA Tour titles and all of them have come in a playoff. Berger made bogey in the playoff, three-putting from 106 feet.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Add another chapter to UConn coach Dan Hurley’s combative history with officials just as March Madness is approaching. Hurley was ejected from the fourth-ranked Huskies’ 68-62 loss to Marquette on Saturday after picking up two technical fouls with one second remaining. Hurley argued that UConn’s Silas Demary Jr. was fouled by Marquette’s Ben Gold while driving to the basket with the Huskies trailing 64-62. Hurley approached John Gaffney and got his chest next to the official’s right shoulder while voicing his displeasure. The Big East fined Hurley $25,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct.

NEW YORK (AP) — Pittsburgh’s Evgeni Malkin has been suspended for five games for slashing Buffalo defenseman Rasmus Dahlin. The punishment will cost the Penguins forward nearly $160,000. The NHL announced Friday that Malkin was assessed a minor penalty for cross-checking, a major penalty for slashing and a game misconduct 35 seconds into the second period of Thursday night’s 4-1 loss to the Sabres. Pittsburgh is already without captain Sidney Crosby for a minimum of four weeks because of a lower-body injury.

Five-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Maxx Crosby is heading to the Baltimore Ravens. Two people with knowledge of the trade confirmed it to The Associated Press on Friday night. Both people spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal can’t be announced until the NFL’s new year starts next week. The Las Vegas Raiders will receive two first-round picks from the Ravens, including the No. 14 overall pick in next month’s NFL draft. The 28-year-old Crosby had 10 sacks last season and has reached double digits four times in his seven seasons.

President Donald Trump has predicted the destruction not just of college sports but the entire U.S. collegiate system unless the industry is fixed quickly. Sports leaders who joined Trump Friday at a White House summit agreed that fix could only happen by raising more money to pay players. Trump suggested he would write an “all-encompassing” executive order within a week in hopes it would spark action from Congress. He also said he expected the order to trigger a lawsuit. Many schools are drowning in red ink from paying players for their name, image and likeness while the rules for those payments keep evolving.
