MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — (WPXI) – Three cases of the COVID-19 U.K. variant were reported in Morgantown, with two of those cases confirmed in West Virginia University students. According to WVU officials, all three people are related to one another and did not visit campus during their infectious period. The school is working with the Monongalia County Health Department for case investigation and contact tracing. The U.K. variant originated in that country and is believed to be more contagious than the original strain of COVID-19. Forty-two other states, including Pennsylvania, have reported cases of the variant. Disease experts predict this could become the dominant strain in the country.
