A Single Juror May Prevent Verdict In Clancy Trial

PLYMOUTH, Mass. (AP) — A deadlocked jury is scheduled to return for a seventh day of deliberations in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial. The jury has twice said it cannot reach a verdict on whether the Massachusetts mother was criminally responsible for killing her three young children. The foreperson told the judge Thursday that one juror was refusing to follow the court’s instructions on reasonable doubt. Clancy’s lawyer asked the judge to remove the juror, but the judge declined. Clancy’s defense argues she was suffering from postpartum psychosis. Prosecutors say she understood her actions were wrong. A continued deadlock could result in a mistrial.
