DENVER (AP) — Lawyers for a group of Colorado voters are focusing on the January 2021 assault on the U.S. Capitol and former President Donald Trump’s words and actions in a trial that could determine whether the Constitution’s insurrection clause bars Trump from running again for the White House. Testimony in the group’s lawsuit on Monday began with details about the Jan. 6 assault that was intended to stop Congress from certifying Democrat Joe Biden’s election win and included first-hand accounts from some who were there. A Trump attorney called the case “anti-democratic.” Later in the week, the Minnesota Supreme Court will consider the same issue for that state’s ballot.
