LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has signed a new law prohibiting transgender people at public schools from using the restroom of their choice. Sanders’ office on Tuesday said she signed the bill, making Arkansas the fourth state to enact such a restriction. The new law will take effect later this summer. It applies to multi-person restrooms and locker rooms at public schools and charter schools serving prekindergarten through 12th grade. The move comes as Arkansas lawmakers are considering a more far-ranging bathroom bill that would criminalize transgender adults using public restrooms that match their gender identity.
