WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden and Utah Gov. Spencer Cox are calling for less bitterness and more bipartisanship in American politics. Both spoke at the White House on Saturday night as the Democratic president hosted a black-tie dinner for the nation’s governors. Republican Cox is chairman of the National Governors Association. Biden says politics has gotten too personally bitter and is “not like it was” when he was first elected to public office in 1972. Cox says political danger shouldn’t be the price to pay for appearing with someone from the opposing party. Cox says his family prays for the president and his family every night.
