SMITH TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A Burgettstown man died Sunday after an early morning off-road vehicle crash. Washington County Coroner Tim Warco says Cole Shergi, 20, was the operator of a side-by-side that lost control traveling east on Joffre Cherry Valley Road in Smith Township around 2:00 a.m. Reports say Shergi was not wearing the vehicle’s safety belt harness and was ejected during the crash. Another passenger in the side-by-side was taken to an area hospital for injuries. Ambulance and Chair Service was assisted by the Midway Fire Department and PennDOT. The accident is under investigation by the Smith Township Police.
