A man who faces felony charges for his alleged role in an hours long standoff in Canton Township waived his charges to court. Melvin Ringer, 40 appeared for his preliminary hearing on Thursday afternoon and agreed to waive the most serious charges against him to court. The district attorney withdrew a firearm possession charge but felony counts of attempted homicide and aggravated assault will be tried in court. Ringer is accused of arguing with his wife Amanda after she revealed that she began a relationship with Everett Miller who happened to be partying with the couple. Ringer told Miller and his wife to leave and as they were going to Miller’s car, Ringer allegedly retrieved a rifle and shot Miller in the back. Ringer is being held in the Washington County Jail unable to post his $750,000 bond.
