City Council Denies Recovery Home

Washington City Council held their voting meeting on Thursday and acted on a measure that was the subject of a public hearing on Monday. Council unanimously denied a conditional use application from CMR Enterprises. The group was looking to develop the Holden House of Hope at 11 and 25 South College Street. Mayor Scott Putnam indicated that the city is very supportive of the recovery community. However, the project is not permitted in the central business district of the city. A development like this is permitted in other city areas. Christopher Rey, a representative of CMR Enterprises who spoke in favor of the development in the public comment section of the meeting did not wish to comment on the vote.  In other city business council swore in officer Joseph Iannetta as a full time police officer. They also hired William Kocher as a firefighter.
