ISLAMABAD (AP) — Momentum for a deal to end the Iran war is growing. Pakistan says an agreement is closer than ever. U.S. President Donald Trump plans to discuss demining the Strait of Hormuz at the upcoming Group of Seven summit that begins Monday. Pakistan’s prime minister expects a deal within 24 hours. Iran says the likelihood of finalizing a memorandum of understanding in the coming days is high. The U.S. and Iran exchanged fire in recent days, threatening a fragile ceasefire. Meanwhile, Iran announced funeral ceremonies for former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in July. Khamenei’s son, Mojtaba, has succeeded him.
