Donnell House In Washington Closes Its Doors

Rumors have been circulating for a few weeks that the Donnell House in Washington was going to close.  Those rumors have turned out to be true.  Officials with Concordia Hospice, who operates services there, have confirmed that they are no longer providing those services and the facility has closed its doors.  They say they have had no patients since early July.  As for why the facility is closing, officials say it’s a change in the way people care for one another.  They say there is a decline in the need for inpatient hospice services as more individuals and families choose in-home care.  Concordia says they will continue to provide in-home care and support to those in the region who need it.  The Donnell House has been operating in the area for nearly twenty-five-years.  (Photo courtesy of Concordia)
