A group swim in the Monongahela River turned tragic Saturday morning. Just before 11:00 am, 12-year-old Rontae Lester disappeared in the water while swimming near First Street in Donora. Emergency agencies responded to a 911 call from one of the friends in the group. Divers found Lester’s body on the riverbed approximately 3:30 pm Saturday afternoon. Washington County Coroner Tim Warco indicated the youth was pronounced dead at the scene. Numerous emergency units assisted.
