LINCOLN BOROUGH, Pa. — Emergency crews are cleaning up the mess after a tractor trailer left the road and went into a ravine in Lincoln Borough. The incident took place on Bellbridge Road in Allegheny County near the Monongahela River.  Local police, fire and EMS arrived around 1:15 a.m. The driver of the tractor trailer was extricated from the cab and stated that he had lost his brakes.  He had minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital by EMS. The truck was found to be hauling approximately 80 fifty five gallon drums of a two-part epoxy chemical. The saddle tanks of the truck were leaking diesel into a stream located right next to the crashed truck. Some of the drums were also being found to be leaking and compromised. HazMat crews along with the Pennsylvania DEP were dispatched to the scene. The hazards to the stream are localized, contained and continue to be monitored until clean up is completed.  At this time, Bellbridge Road remains closed to traffic.  Local responders included Lincoln Borough Police, Lincoln Borough VFD, Southeast Regional EMS, Elizabeth Borough and Elizabeth Township fire departments and the Liberty Borough Fire Department.
