CORAOPOLIS, Pa. — (WPXI) – A closure on a highly traveled part of Interstate 79 next week could affect commutes in Allegheny County. The closure is set to begin at 9 p.m., July 9, lasting through 5 a.m., July 12. Interstate 79 northbound will be closed at the Coraopolis exit and all traffic will be detoured from I-79 north, onto Exit 64 which is marked, “PA-51, Coraopolis, McKees Rocks.” All I-79 north traffic will be routed onto SR-51, through Coraopolis. Traffic will continue up to the Sewickley Bridge, cross over the bridge, then be detoured back south on SR-65 (Ohio River Blvd.) where it will then flow on Kilbuck Street through Glenfield Borough, and back onto I-79 north from Kilbuck Street. There will be officers posted at various locations to assist traffic during daylight hours, and signs will be in place.
