The Peters Township man accused of killing his 11-month old son in late May had his charges held for court Friday. Jordan Neil Clarke, 36, said he was in the basement of his home on May 23rd retrieving a bottle of formula for the child when he tripped on a grocery bag and fell on the baby according to the criminal complaint. The child, who was only identified as SC, was flown to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh and pronounced dead. A few days after the incident, UPMC Dr. Matthew Valente sent a report to Peters Township Police saying that the baby’s injuries were “gravely concerning for physical abuse.” The complaint says the child suffered hematomas on both sides of the brain, hemorrhages in both eyes and tibia fractures. Clarke is charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of children. He is being held without bail in the Washington County Jail and will have a formal arraignment later this summer.
