A long time local television reporter has died. Stuart Emry who reported for WTAE-TV and KDKA-TV for a span of more than 30 years died peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 88. Emry covered many high profile stories from chemical spills and train derailments to political scandals and high profile murders. His interviews included ordinary citizens and U.S. presidents. He won several awards including one for his coverage of the Three Mile Island disaster. Emry married his wife Susan in 1960, she preceded him in death in 2016. Emry was the father to daughters Betsy and Jennifer and the late Michael. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc. 4201 Brownsville Road. Brentwood, PA 15227 on April 18 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. at The Whitehall House. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.
