A Carnegie man has waived a preliminary hearing and will go to trial following a SWAT situation in Monongahela. The arrest stems from an August 15th incident that started as a stolen vehicle. Police tried to arrest 20 year old Emmannuel Houghton at multiple scenes in the area throughout the day for allegedly stealing a car, but according to the complaint, Houghton fired at police officers when they attempted to pull him over. Following a chase in which Houghton got away, they caught up with him again at an apartment building in Monongahela and a SWAT situation ensued. After several hours, police cleared the building, only to have Houghten resurface on the street a short time later; holding 2 guns, covered in dirt and asking a woman if she had a vape. She alerted police and SWAT returned to the apartment building. After several more hours, SWAT entered the building and took Hougton into custody without incident around 7:30p. Police believe when they cleared the scene the first time he was hiding in an attic. Houghton is charged with attempted criminal homicide, attempted aggravated assault, receiving stolen property, theft of firearms, theft of a vehicle, criminal trespassing, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and firearms charges.
