Monessen Teen Dies After Being Shot

A Monessen high school student who was shot Tuesday night has died and authorities say they are now investigating the shooting as a homicide. They say a search warrant was being issued for a house at the corner of South 14th Street and Reservoir Avenue in Monessen, in the area where the teen was shot. The sixteen-year-old male was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest and police say he died there Wednesday. Police say they have not yet made an arrest. The Monessen School District operated Wednesday morning on a two-hour delay and district officials say counseling and support staff would be on hand for any student who may need them.
