Measles Cases Continue To Increase In PA

The Pennsylvania Department of Health provided an update to the current measles outbreak in the commonwealth. On Friday, 977 measles cases have been confirmed in 39 counties so far this year. Since September 30, 34 new measles cases have been documented. There have been 195 total hospitalizations. There have been 5 confirmed measles associated deaths. There have only been 4 cases of measles among vaccinated individuals. According to the Department of Health, getting vaccinated is the best protection against the measles virus. The vaccine has proven to be 97% effective at preventing measles for life after two doses.
