ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) — Top diplomats from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt are meeting in Pakistan to push for an end to the Iran war, but strikes keep coming. Pakistan’s prime minister has held talks with Iran’s president. The U.S. and Israel are staying out of the meeting in Islamabad on Sunday. The war has killed thousands and shaken energy markets. Iran has rejected a U.S. peace framework and has floated its own proposal through state media. Iran’s parliament speaker dismissed the talks as a cover while the U.S. dispatches additional troops to the Middle East. He warned against any ground invasion and said Iran was ready to set American troops “on fire.”
