As Canonsburg prepared for their annual Old Fashioned Christmas celebration, the Midtown Market held their ribbon cutting marking them open for business. The former McCrory’s Department Store that was most recently the City Mission’s Hidden Treasures store has been transformed into a multi-tenant, street themed destination. Andrew Andronas is the developer of the building. His vision began more than five years ago when he decided to buy the 9000 square foot building and get in on the ground floor of Canonsburg’s revitalization. Currently, the building has four tenants, MP Coney Island Hot Dog Shop, Joe’s Soda Pop Shop, The 1802 Tavern and Major Mallard’s Duck Pin Bowling Alley. For the holidays, a model train display occupies the last space to fill. Andronas says that it is exciting to bring such a destination to Canonsburg. Former Director of Economic Development for Canonsburg, Lisa Scarmazzi recalled the nearly daily meetings she held with Andronas as they brought the idea to life. She said that if anyone could do it Andrew could. Andronas said that there is an additional 9000 square feet upstairs that he will develop into an event center area. Work on that will begin in the new year.
