Approximately 50 North Strabane Residents gathered for a Special Hearing regarding the Amended Development Plan for the Scenic Valley Development on McDowell lane. The mood was much more cordial than in previous meetings about the development. Laurel Communities changed the idea for the 68 acre site after public outcry regarding a 4 story senior living facility was proposed. That development is now a two phase development that replaced that senior living facility with 74 townhomes and kept the original phase two development of 52 townhomes. Neighboring residents are relieved that the plan was amended to be what it is right now. Alan Bullard of neighboring Sunset Pointe states that Developer Terry Bowe of Laurel Communities was receptive to neighbors concerns and went to great lengths to try and please neighboring residents. Bullard was complimentary of Bowe and Laurel Communities calling them “Good Neighbors”. Supervisors expect to give final approval for the conditional use of the plan in an upcoming meeting.
