The southbound lanes on Interstate 79 near the Houston Exit were closed for several hours, after a chain-reaction accident involving four vehicles that occurred just before ten o’clock Wednesday morning. Washington County 911 confirms that one person was killed, one person was flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh and another was taken by ambulance to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. The cause of the crash is under investigation by State Police, but according to the Washington County coroner’s office, the victim was driving a car south when a another car in the northbound lane lost control, crossed the median and collided with the victim’s car.
