Nine Dead Following Shooting In Erie

ERIE, Pa. — Nine people are dead after a shooting in Erie. According to our news partners at Channel 11 and their affiliate Erie News NOW, the incident started at a home on the 700 block of Perry Street at around 5 p.m. on Friday afternoon. Reports say a man was firing a handgun outside the house before entering. SWAT units were called and a standoff ensued. Police heard gunshots inside the house during the standoff. Eventually, they were able to gain entrance. According to reports, police found several victims, including the children, inside the home. Two women were found dead in the street. The City of Erie Government shared a post saying the shooter is dead and that there is no active threat or danger to the public. Reports indicate the shooter appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police are still investigating.
