North Strabane Approves Work In Majestic Hills Plan

North Strabane Township Supervisors have approved a measure that will allow slope repair and sewer line replacement in the Majestic Hills plan. That work is needed to restore the hillside that collapsed in June of 2018 taking several homes with it. The amount of the contract awarded to Stewart Contracting is $1,531,760 and Walz indicated that grant funding may be available to offset the cost of that contract. In other business, two members of the public safety department were promoted. Dante Sicchitano was promoted to Captain in the Fire Department. In the Police Department, Gary Scherer was promoted to Sergeant. Public Safety Director Mark Grimm complimented both men on their fine work within the their respective departments and the positive recognition both receive from the public when performing their jobs. Township Manager Andrew Walz said that the process for promotion is very competitive and that allows the best candidates to rise to the top and be promoted.
