UNDATED (AP) – “Oppenheimer” is now the most successful biopic ever, passing “Bohemian Rhapsody.” As of yesterday, “Oppenheimer” has made nearly $913 million. It’s director Christopher Nolan’s third highest-grossing film, after the “Dark Knight” sequels, and it’s the third biggest film of the year, behind “Barbie” and “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.” “Oppenheimer” producer Emma Thomas, who is married to Nolan, says the success of a three-hour film about a serious subject is “beyond our wildest imaginings.” Nine weeks after its release, “Oppenheimer” is still strong in theaters, and particularly IMAX theaters. Eleven of the 25 screens nationwide that can project IMAX 70-millimeter prints – Nolan’s preferred format – are still showing “Oppenheimer.” (Photo: ABC)
