WASHINGTON (AP) – Former President Donald Trump is calling for the “immediate” release of the federal warrant the FBI used to search his Florida estate. In messages posted late Thursday on his Truth Social platform, Trump writes, “Release the documents now!” The Justice Department had asked a court to unseal the warrant earlier Thursday, with Attorney General Merrick Garland (pictured) citing the “substantial public interest in this matter.” Garland said he had personally approved the search warrant, which was part of an ongoing Justice Department investigation into the discovery of classified White House records recovered from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, Florida, earlier this year.

NORTH HUNTINGDON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — (WPXI) – North Huntingdon Township Police need your help trying to track down a bank robbery suspect who tried to rob the PNC Bank on Norwin Avenue 45 minutes before it closed for the day Wednesday. He told the teller he was armed and demanded money, but ended up walking out empty-handed. “He passed a note to the teller asking for money and she didn’t have any money to give him, and he walked out of the bank with no money at all,” Detective Tom Harris said. Police said the teller did not have much money in her drawer. The man became frustrated, then walked out and got into a black BMW. The suspect is described as a white man, who was wearing what appears to be an Adidas bucket hat, a surgical mask and reflective sunglasses.

BROWNSVILLE, Pa. — (WPXI) – A one-year-old girl is dead after she was hit by a vehicle in Fayette County. A 58-year-old man was taken into custody on the scene. He has been identified as Donnie Sigmon of Brownsville. Pennsylvania State Police were called to Green Street in Brownsville for reports of the accident at around 5:14 p.m. Police are still investigating.

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — (WPXI) – The father of a 3-month-old baby who died after being left inside a hot car earlier this summer has turned himself into police. Khang Nguyen is facing charges as a result of the incident on June 16 along Fort Couch Road in Upper Saint Clair. Police found the baby unresponsive after he was left inside the father’s hot minivan for hours in the driveway of a home. Paramedics attempted to save the infant but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Earlier this summer, the medical examiner identified the baby as Kayden Nguyen. Thursday morning, Kayden’s father Khang Nguyen turned himself in with his attorney at Pittsburgh Municipal Court. He is charged with involuntary manslaughter, endangering the welfare of children, and recklessly endangering another person.

NEW YORK (AP) – The nation’s top public health agency is relaxing its COVID-19 guidelines and dropping the recommendation that Americans quarantine themselves if they come into close contact with an infected person. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also said Thursday that people no longer need to stay at least 6 feet away from others. The changes come more than 2 1/2 years after the start of the pandemic. They are driven by a recognition that an estimated 95% of Americans 16 and older have acquired some level of immunity, either from being vaccinated or infected.

WASHINGTON (AP) – The number of Americans who signed up for unemployment benefits rose last week to the highest level since November, though the U.S. job market continues to show signs of strength. Applications for jobless aid climbed by 14,000 to 262,000 and now have risen five out of the last six weeks, the Labor Department reported Thursday. The four-week average for claims, which smooths out weekly ups and downs, rose by 4,500 to 252,000, also the highest since November. Unemployment applications are a proxy for layoffs and are often seen as an early indicator of where the job market is headed.

CINCINNATI (AP) – Authorities say a man has “unknown injuries” after he tried to breach the FBI’s Cincinnati office, fled and exchanged gunfire in a standoff with law enforcement. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Thursday that no one else was hurt. Officials say the man was wearing body armor and was chased onto Interstate 71. Officials say the man abandoned his car on nearby roads, where he exchanged gunfire with police. The episode came a day after the FBI director warned against threats circulating online against agents and the Justice Department following the agency’s search of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) – North Korean leader Kim Jong Un declared victory over COVID-19 at a national meeting where his sister, in an especially combative speech, said Kim had suffered a fever himself and laid dubious blame against South Korea while vowing deadly retaliation. The North’s official media said Kim ordered preventive measures eased just three months after the country first acknowledged an outbreak, claiming the country’s widely disputed success would be recognized as a global health miracle. There were no details about his supposed fever. Experts say Kim’s sister’s remarks may portend a provocation. Seoul called the comments disrespectful and threatening.

The Kremlin has refused to announce a full-blown mobilization as Russia suffers military losses in its invasion of Ukraine which is nearing its sixth month. Such a move could be very unpopular for President Vladimir Putin. Russia is engaged instead in a covert recruitment effort that includes using prisoners to make up for the manpower shortage. This also is happening amid reports that hundreds of soldiers are refusing to fight and are trying to quit the military. Authorities seem to be pulling out all the stops to bolster enlistment although the Defense Ministry denies any “mobilization activities” are happening. Billboards urge men to join up and authorities have set up mobile recruiting centers.
