A federal appeals court panel has ruled that President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandate for larger private employers can take effect. Friday’s 2-1 ruling from a panel of judges on the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reverses a lower-court ruling that had paused the requirement. Republican-led states and conservative groups are challenging the rule, which would apply to companies with at least 100 employees and affect some 84 million workers across the U.S. They have vowed to appeal Friday’s ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court. HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – The Republican-controlled state House of Representatives still lacks the votes to block the centerpiece of Gov. Tom Wolf’s plan to fight climate change, a cap-and-trade program to clamp down on carbon dioxide emissions from power plants. Wednesday’s vote, 130-70, was on a resolution that Wolf can veto. The authorizing regulation would make Pennsylvania the first major fossil fuel state to adopt carbon pricing. It can take effect if both the House and Senate cannot must a two-thirds majority to override the veto. A Senate vote in late October to disapprove the policy, like the House’s vote Wednesday, was just short of the number needed to override a gubernatorial veto.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents that there is a telephone scam making its way around the county and they are urging residents to be aware of it. The caller then advises the resident that they can pay the fines with cash or gift cards. The sheriff’s office says they would never call residents in that manner and should anyone have any legitimate concerns over a jury summons, they should contact the court administrator or the jury management office.
