He became friends with an opera superstar and with a saint. Kelly is the longest-serving priest in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. He recently celebrated the 75th anniversary of his ordination and his 100th birthday. He’s grateful and tries to make each day count. He listens to opera. He bakes pies. And he still wakes up at dawn every day to say Catholic Mass at the retired living community that he calls home.

Thousands of protesters have gathered in Thailand’s capital demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra. The demonstration Saturday in Bangkok is part of brewing political turmoil set off by a leaked phone call between Paetongtarn and former Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen. Paetongtarn is facing growing dissatisfaction over her handling of a recent border dispute with Cambodia, which killed a Cambodian solider and prompted the call with Hun Sen. The call has set off a string of investigations that could lead to Paetongtarn’s removal. Many protesters were part of a royalist, conservative group that has been a longtime foe of Paetongtarn’s father, former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

In an article published on June 26, 2025, on wjpa.com, it was stated that Leo McIntyre, who was charged with multiple counts of child sexual assault, was employed by the Goldfish Swim School in Peters Township at the time the charges were filed – in December of 2022. That statement is inaccurate; McIntyre had been fired by the school in June of 2022, on unrelated issues and none of the victims had attended the school. WJPA apologizes for the inaccurate statement and regrets our error.

(WPXI) – The body of a missing fisherman has been found in Fayette County. Connellsville Police Sgt. Bryan Kendi confirms that Jerry Grimm’s body was located in Dawson Friday morning. Kendi says Grimm’s body was in the Youghiogheny River under the Dawson Bridge. A passerby saw it in the water and called 911. The Fayette County Coroner’s Office says Grimm, 52, of Connellsville, was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy will be done to determine the cause and manner of death. The search for Grimm has been extensive, involving numerous personnel and boats. Grimm was last seen around 9 p.m. Tuesday fishing in the water of the Youghiogheny River, about a quarter-mile upstream from Yough River Park. Officials initially supposed he had been swept away while fishing in the river. The coroner’s office says Grimm’s family was notified of his death, and it asks members of the public to keep the family in their thoughts and prayers at this time.
