CHARTIERS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum is giving kids a chance to get up close with some older modes of transportation. The museum is offering free admission for kids up to age 17 through Sept. 30. Kids can take trolley rides and explore exhibits, including the Terrible Trolley, which officials say is a huge hit. “We were lucky enough to find the original car in a barn in Ohio,” said Kevin Zebley, director of facilities, safety and operations for the museum. “Brought it to the trolley museum, where we had volunteers and paid staff put many hours of work into it, and it’s been a fan-favorite ever since it rolled out about a month ago.” The museum is open Thursday through Sunday, with specific hours for the free kids event.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump has issued an executive order designating antifa as a domestic terrorist organization. Antifa, short for “anti-fascists,” is an umbrella term for far-left-leaning militant groups and is not a singular entity. It consists of groups that resist fascists and neo-Nazis, especially at demonstrations. The order did not specify how the administration would label what is effectively a decentralized movement as a domestic terrorist organization. Trump had said last week on social media that he would designate antifa as a “major terrorist organization.”

WASHINGTON (AP) — Over the span of 14 days, nearly 200 people marched from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C., in defense of democracy. From children to the elderly, members of the We Are America march arrived in the nation’s capital on a warm and sunny Friday afternoon, tired but joyous, where they were greeted with hugs and cheers from supporters and members of Congress. The mission of their sprawling walk was to unite a movement strong enough to hold America’s leaders accountable. Along the way they were housed in churches, where they slept in pews, or at people’s homes.

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (AP) — Ryan Routh has been found guilty of attempting to assassinate Donald Trump at a Florida golf course last year. After the verdict on Tuesday, Routh tried to stab himself in the neck with a pen but was quickly restrained by officers. The jury took about two hours to reach their decision. Routh’s daughter, Sara, expressed her distress in the courtroom, claiming the case was rigged. Routh, who represented himself in court, faces life in prison with sentencing scheduled for Dec. 18. Prosecutors say Routh spent weeks plotting to kill Trump but did not fire his weapon.

CANTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — An investigation is underway into a fire in Canton Township Sunday evening. Washington County 911 says crews were called to a commercial structure fire in the 1100 block of West Findlay Street just after 7:30 p.m. Canton Township Fire Chief Chuck LaBella says the fire started at a car repair business. The man who rents the building was outside at the time. Since the building is made of metal, damage was mainly to the interior insulation and some cars that were inside, LaBella says. Crews were on scene for about an hour and a half. The fire was brought under control quickly thanks to help from several other companies, LaBella says. The renter began experiencing a rapid heart rate and was taken to a hospital to be checked out. LaBella says the fire’s cause is currently unknown.

BANGKOK (AP) — A bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers has pushed for more military dialogue in a meeting with China’s Premier Li Qiang. The meeting on Sunday marked the first visit by a House delegation to Beijing since 2019. Li welcomed the delegates, calling it an “icebreaking trip” to strengthen ties. Rep. Adam Smith, a Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee, emphasized the need for military communication. The delegation included members from both the Armed Services and Foreign Affairs Committees. U.S.-China relations have been strained by trade tensions, Taiwan’s status and China’s support for Russia. CAIRO (AP) — Israeli strikes have killed at least 30 people in Gaza City, including children, according to health officials. The strikes hit a residential block Saturday night, escalating the ongoing conflict. Israel says it aims to “destroy Hamas’ military infrastructure” but hasn’t provided a timeline for the offensive. Palestinians streamed out of Gaza City, though many are unwilling to be uprooted again, too weak to leave or unable to afford the cost of moving. Aid groups warn that forced evacuations in Gaza will worsen the humanitarian crisis. Meanwhile, several Western countries are preparing to recognize Palestinian statehood at the United Nations General Assembly on Monday.

(WPXI) – Police have charged a second person in connection with the death of a 17-year-old girl. Kaitlin Whoolery disappeared in 2023 after leaving a drug treatment facility. Investigators said she likely overdosed on drugs and died at the Heritage Inn in Uniontown. On Friday, they charged Vincent Cossell who police they say admitted to burying Whoolery in a shallow grave at a property in North Union Township. Charges include hindering apprehension, endangering the welfare of children, concealing the death of a child, tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse. Earlier this week, police also charged Derrick Bradley. According to court documents, Cossell told police that he, Bradley and Whoolery rented a room at a Uniontown hotel, where they were later joined by an unidentified fourth person. Cossell said he and Bradley left the room for a bit, and when they returned, Whoolery was dead. Cossell said he performed CPR without success, records say.
