NEW YORK (AP) – U.S. Rep.-elect George Santos of New York is now under investigation by the Nassau County District attorney’s office. The development adds to a loudening uproar over revelations that the Republican lied about his heritage, education and professional life when he campaigned successfully for U.S. Congress. Despite intensifying doubt about his fitness to hold federal office, Santos has thus far shown no signs of stepping aside – even as he has publicly admitted to a long list of fabrications. He is scheduled to be sworn in Tuesday. If he assumes office, he could face investigations by the House Committee on Ethics and the Justice Department.

PLAINS, Ga. (AP) — Rosalynn Carter’s tiny hometown of Plains, Georgia, is mourning the death of the former U.S. first lady and global humanitarian, who died Sunday at 96. Lifelong residents and more recent transplants to Plains remembered her Monday as an involved presence around town, despite all that she and former President Jimmy Carter achieved elsewhere. She was instrumental in a Thanksgiving food drive and distribution to the needy, and maintained deep roots in multiple church congregations. It’s not clear whether Jimmy Carter, now 99 and in hospice care, will be able to attend the public commemorations and funeral services to be held in Sumter County and Atlanta next Monday through Wednesday. ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) – A judge in Florida has agreed with a request from the family of comedian Bob Saget and temporarily prohibited the release of any photos, video or other records related to the investigation into his death. The judge said Wednesday that refusing to issue the temporary injunction would have caused the family irreparable harm. Saget’s wife, Kelly Rizzo, and his three daughters, filed a lawsuit the previous day in Orlando, Florida, asking the state judge for a ruling that would prohibit the release of the records. The judge has not yet ruled on whether the family’s privacy concerns outweigh any claims for the records to be released. (Photo: AP)

Regal Cinemas, the second largest movie theater chain in the U.S., will reopen beginning April 2nd. Regal had been one of most notable holdouts in the gradual reopening of cinemas nationwide. For nearly half a year, screens and theatres in the U.S. have been dark – and that includes the one at Washington Crown Center in North Franklin Township. The company says doors will open early next month with attendance limited to 25 to 50% capacity in about 500 locations. As for the Washington County location, Civil Knox, the mall’s general manager and marketing director, says the news of the reopening is news to her and she can’t say whether that will include their location.
