Biden Knocks Trump For Shunning Mask

May 27, 2020 4:04 am

WASHINGTON (AP) – Joe Biden says President Donald Trump is a “fool” who is “stoking deaths” for suggesting that wearing a mask in public to combat the spread of the coronavirus is anything other than a sign of leadership. The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee on Tuesday also knocked Trump for “this macho stuff” in shunning masks. Biden’s comments came a day after he wore a black face mask at a park near their Delaware home to lay a wreath at a veterans’ memorial for Memorial Day. Trump later retweeted a post that appeared to make fun of Biden in his mask. The president does not wear a face mask in public.

Fox News Host Declares White Supremacy A Hoax

August 7, 2019 3:34 pm

NEW YORK (AP) – Fox News host Tucker Carlson is under fire for his comments declaring white supremacy a hoax.  Carlson said on his prime-time show on Tuesday that he’d never met anybody who considered white supremacy to be a good idea. He made his remarks a day before President Donald Trump visited El Paso, Texas, where a white gunman who had written an anti-Hispanic rant killed 22 people over the weekend.  The Anti-Defamation League says that Carlson is using his platform to push out prejudice and doesn’t deserve a spot on a major news network.  There was no immediate response on Wednesday from Fox News Channel. High Insulin Prices Spur Lawsuit

September 20, 2024 5:56 pm

(AP) – The federal government is suing some pharmacy benefit managers over a system of drug rebates that regulators say has made the price of insulin soar for patients. The Federal Trade Commission says three companies that process about 80% of prescriptions in the United States have engaged in anticompetitive practices that spur price increases. Pharmacy benefit managers, or PBMs, run prescription drug coverage for insurers, large employers and other clients. They set up formularies, or lists of covered drugs, and negotiate rebates off the drug prices. PBMs say the lawsuit shows that the FTC doesn’t understand how drug pricing works.

Attention Shifts To Overhauling Small Business Aid

May 27, 2020 4:03 am

WASHINGTON (AP) – Congress is shifting its attention to a more modest overhaul of small business coronavirus aid, although it remains deadlocked on a larger relief bill. The House this week is expected to pass legislation that would give small employers more time to take advantage of federal subsidies for payroll and other costs. The Senate is considering a similar proposal. Lawmakers are trying to help restaurants, stores and other small businesses as they struggle during the pandemic. Many businesses that are reopening are seeing sharply reduced revenue, increasing the urgency in Washington to act.
