NEW YORK (AP) — President Joe Biden is telling Americans that the nation’s financial systems are sound. This comes after the swift and stunning collapse of two banks that prompted fears of a broader upheaval. Biden said Monday: “Americans can have confidence that the banking system is safe.” He says people’s “deposits will be there when you need them.” U.S. regulators closed Silicon Valley Bank on Friday after it experienced a traditional bank run, where depositors rushed to withdraw their funds all at once. Then New York-based Signature Bank also failed.

Directors the Daniels and actors Ke Huy Quan, Jamie Lee Curtis and Michelle Yeoh provided emotional highpoints on a night that made history for Asians and Asian Americans in Hollywood and saw almost everyone thank Mom – and poignantly.

Heather Bable says she doesn’t feel safe in the town where her family has lived for four generations. She’s looking for a new home. Her mother, Sherry, says people near the crash site are vulnerable to cancer and railroad operator Norfolk Southern should buy them out. Uniontown Bar Shooter Considered Armed & Dangerous

March 13, 2023 2:55 am

(WPXI) – Officials say the man who is responsible for shooting and killing a man inside a Uniontown bar after an argument last week should be considered armed and dangerous. Daryl Truley Jr., 32, is wanted for criminal homicide, aggravated assault and gun-related charges in connection to the shooting death of Darrell Gregg, 32. Fayette County District Attorney Richard Bower said Truley and Gregg argued before Gregg was shot. Tommy Stargell Jr., 28, was also killed. Bower said Stargell was trying to break up the fight when he was shot. Bower said state police, Uniontown police and his office have been working on the double homicide. At one point last week, police thought a second shooter could be involved, but Bower said during a news conference Monday that law enforcement is looking for Truley. He also said he will be in court Tuesday to try to shut down the scene of the shooting — the Sails Inn, which he called a “nuisance bar.” Bower held up a thick stack of papers and said it was the complaint against the bar, which he said is 235 pages long and includes 74 incidents involving police.
