The federal government has filed a lawsuit against railroad Norfolk Southern over environmental damage caused by a train derailment on the Ohio-Pennsylvania border that spilled toxic chemicals into nearby creeks and rivers. The U.S. Department of Justice said in the suit filed Thursday that it’s seeking to hold the company accountable for polluting the waterways and to ensure it pays the full cost of the environmental cleanup. The derailment in early February led to the evacuation of about half the village of East Palestine. A message seeking comment on the lawsuit was left with the railroad on Friday.

NEW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump has been indicted by a Manhattan grand jury, a historic reckoning after years of investigations into his personal, political and business dealings and an abrupt jolt to his bid to retake the White House next year. The exact nature of the charges was unclear Friday because the indictment remained under seal, but they stem from payments made during the 2016 presidential campaign to silence claims of an extramarital sexual encounter. Prosecutors say they are working to coordinate Trump’s surrender, which could happen early next week. They are not saying whether they intend to seek prison time in the event of a conviction, a development that wouldn’t prevent Trump from assuming the presidency.

BALDWIN, Pa. — (WPXI) – A Baldwin man is facing a number of charges for what police say they found on a GoPro Camera. The investigation began after an incident at a Virginia waterpark. Our news partners at Channel 11 have learned this isn’t the first time he’s been in trouble over an incident like this. James Wright, 45, is behind bars at the Allegheny County Jail, facing multiple felony charges. According to a criminal complaint, local police received a tip back in August that Wright, a registered sex offender, had been removed from the waterpark after patrons complained that he was using the camera to film them. It’s not the first time Wright has been involved in a case like this. In 2017, police used surveillance video to identify Wright, who they say had been taking pictures of young children at Kennywood Park and performed a sex act near juveniles while in line for a ride. The current situation is similar. According to the criminal complaint, police found Wright to be in violation of his probation and searched electronic devices belonging to him. On them, they found “numerous videos, depicting […] recordings of adult women and female children [that] appear to have been taken in various public places, such as stores and public swimming pools.” Another recording, allegedly taken at his home in Baldwin, showed Wright performing a sex act in his bedroom while two young girls were inside. The complaint says they had their backs turned and that Wright’s face was visible in a mirror at one point.
