Man Reportedly Threatens To Blow Up St. Clair Hospital

March 30, 2022 2:19 pm

(WPXI) – Christopher Moran, 43, is behind bars at the Allegheny County Jail after reportedly threatening to blow up St. Clair Hospital in Mount Lebanon on Tuesday. Mount Lebanon police brought Moran to the hospital on Monday, but did not say why. On Tuesday morning around eleven o’clock, hospital risk management notified police of a bomb threat. Police said Moran called in the threat from inside the hospital, claiming he was discriminated against. He allegedly said, “If you throw me out to the wolves, you better believe I’m going to come back here with a (expletive) bomb, and I mean it,” before leaving his name at the end of the message. Moran was out of jail on a non-monetary bond at the time of the threat, for a separate incident in which he is currently facing charges including two counts of simple assault, reckless endangerment and terroristic threats. Police say Moran also has a past history of allegedly assaulting other patients and threatening staff. A judge denied bond in this latest incident, saying Moran poses a threat to the community. A preliminary hearing is set for April 6th.

Susan Collins says she will vote to confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, giving Democrats at least one Republican vote and all but assuring that Jackson will become the first Black woman on the Supreme Court. Collins’ support Wednesday gives Democrats at least a one-vote cushion in the 50-50 Senate and likely saves them from having to use Vice President Kamala Harris’ tie-breaking vote to confirm President Joe Biden’s pick. It is expected that all 50 Democrats will support Jackson, though one notable moderate Democrat, Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, hasn’t yet said how she will vote.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – A Republican proposal to prevent transgender girls from competing in girls’ school sports is advancing in the Pennsylvania Legislature. The measure was passed on party lines Tuesday by the Pennsylvania House Education Committee. The “Save Women’s Sports Act” bill would restrict players to male or female teams based on their reproductive organs, biology or genetics at birth. The bill says athletic teams designated for women or girls may not be open to “students of the male sex.” It would give students a route to sue if they feel harmed by violations of that rule. It covers K-12 school teams, college sports, intramurals and club teams sponsored by school entities.
