July 30, 2023 3:33 am

COLLIER TOWNSHIP, Pa. -(WPXI)- A woman was shot outside of a Texas Roadhouse in Collier Township. Allegheny County dispatchers say police and medics were called to the restaurant on Washington Pike at 3:50 p.m. on Friday. Restaurant employees say the business was not impacted and confirmed that the incident happened in the parking lot, not inside the building. The victim was taken to a hospital. “We pulled up and there were four or five police cars on scene,” said Carmela Weaver of Kennedy Township. The gunfire erupted as many people were making their way inside the restaurant to eat. “There was a lot of blood and when we got here there were two sandals, like flip flops,” said Rich Mitoch, a Texas Roadhouse patron. “I asked the policeman if I could go inside, he says, ‘Yeah.’” Weaver is thankful no one else was hurt. She said she and her family were on their way to Texas Roadhouse for dinner and got there just after the shooting happened. “Your daily activities, or things you do for regular enjoyment with your family, especially with a one-year old – take for granted that you’re going to be safe and that’s not always the case,” she said. The woman who was shot is expected to recover. Police are not yet releasing her name or the suspect’s name.

Ford Recalls 870K F-150 Pickups In US

July 29, 2023 4:28 am

DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) — Ford is recalling more than 870,000 F-150 pickup trucks in the U.S. because the electric parking brakes can turn on unexpectedly. The recall covers certain pickups from the 2021 through 2023 model years with single exhaust systems. The company says in documents posted Friday by government safety regulators that a rear wiring bundle can come in contact with the axle housing. That can chafe the wiring and cause a short circuit, which can turn on the parking brake. The company says it doesn’t know of any crashes or injuries from the problem. Dealers will inspect the rear wiring harness. If protective tape is worn through, the harness will be replaced. If the tape isn’t worn, they’ll install a protective tie strap and tape wrap.

Pa. Budget Impasse Drags On

July 28, 2023 4:52 am

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Democratic lawmakers in Pennsylvania say they are angry that millions of dollars to expand adult mental health services got cut out of state spending legislation, and are pushing to get it included now that the legislation is held up in a month-old partisan stalemate. The fight over the money comes as schools and counties report spikes in demand for mental health services on the heels of the COVID-19 pandemic, and say they don’t have the resources to support those in need. Funds for adults were left on the cutting room floor in a budget bill that Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro says he will sign. The Senate Republican-authored budget bill instead pushed those dollars to student mental health. Democrats say that both should be funded.
