A Pennsylvania State Police Trooper entered into the ARD sentencing program in DUI Court on Monday. Jared Johnson, 46 of South Franklin will serve a 12 month probation for a misdemeanor charge of DUI and two other summary offenses. If Johnson completes the program successfully he may petition the court to have his record expunged. Johnson was dispatched to a report of an injured deer while he was on patrol. Dispatchers kept receiving calls about the deer prompting a check on Johnson. He was found in a gravel parking area near the Taylorstown exit of Interstate 70 with a bottle of rum in the front seat. His defense attorney stated that Johnson is already complying with the ARD sentence requirements and is ahead of the game in his recovery. Johnson is currently suspended from the police force. A determination regarding his return to service will be made now that the case has been adjudicated.
