At the end of the 2025 school year Peters Township School District Superintendent Dr. Jeanine French announced that the current school year would be her last. Now, in September, the district has a new superintendent. During a special voting meeting, the district announced that Dr. Jennifer Murphy will take over as the new superintendent beginning July 1, 2026. Murphy has a three year contract. She will be paid $225,000. The vote to appoint Murphy was 8-1 with board director Alexandra Binsse dissenting. Her reasons were that she felt the process was rushed, that led to a lack of community involvement. She also felt that with the possibility of four new school directors being elected in November, they should have had a say so in the decision. Outgoing Superintendent Dr. Jeanine French says the district is in good hands with Murphy. School Board President Rebecca Bowman says because of Murphy’s involvement in the schools and community, there will be minimal transition time in what she anticipates as a successful term. Murphy says that she will continue the program of success that is employed by the district and will look for tweaks to improve on an already outstanding program. Murphy has been with the school district for 12 years. She is the Deputy Superintendent and oversees the middle and high school operations. She is the compliance officer and also oversees the athletic department. (Pictured L-R Dr. Jeanine French, Dr. Jennifer Murphy)
