Peters Township Improving Communications

Police and fire communications will be greatly improved in Peters Township. Council unanimously approved $387,000 in funding to replace its radio communications systems for the police and fire departments. Equipment currently in use is anywhere from 15 to 18 years old and replacement parts are scarce. The purchase was made through the state’s COSTARS program. COSTARS is a purchasing cooperative that takes advantage of negotiated discounts for certain equipment needs. Lauer pointed out that Peters Township was able to negotiate an additional discount saving taxpayer even more money. Lauer expects the system to be in place by the end of the year.
