Police Officer Dead In South Carolina Shooting

(AP) – The Columbia, South Carolina, police chief says an officer died and a second was injured Saturday after responding to a call about a domestic dispute. Chief W.H. “Skip” Holbrook says the suspect had a lengthy criminal record and also died. He says the deceased officer was 29 years old and had been with the department for two years. He leaves behind a wife and two young children. After an evening news conference Saturday, law enforcement officials joined a procession from the local hospital. Holbrook says the second officer is in stable condition.
