Emergency crews from multiple departments and areas are working to rescue a man from a collapsed trench in Charleroi. Washington County 911 dispatchers say emergency crews were called to the 800 block of McKean Avenue in Charleroi just before eight-thirty Thursday evening. Authorities say a man was working in a trench at a construction site near the intersection of McKean Avenue and Eighth Street when it collapsed and trapped him, burying him from the chest down. Charleroi Fire Chief Robert Whiten Jr. said the trench is about 15 feet deep and it’s likely to take hours to free the individual, who Whiten says, is alive and in good spirits. As for what caused the collapse, that is at this time, unknown. This is a developing story, check back for the latest updates. (Photo: WPXI)
