Smith Township Man Pleads Guilty To Assault

A Smith Township man pleaded guilty to an aggravated assault charge on Tuesday. Brian Barish, 53, is accused of physically assaulting his wife at their home in the 20 block of Bulger Block Road in March of 2023. According to police, Barish grabbed his wife by the neck and threw her to the floor, where he held a gun to her head. When police arrived, they held Barish at gunpoint because they believed he was armed, however he was not armed but told police there was a gun in the bedroom. Barish will serve a minimum of 13 days and a maximum of 9 months in Washington County Correctional facility, and he was not ordered to have no contact with the victim.
