Steelers Practice Squad Player Arrested

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WPXI)— A member of the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad is facing multiple charges for accusations that he assaulted and strangled his girlfriend at a local Airbnb. Jarron Jones, 26, is facing charges of aggravated assault, strangulation and simple assault for an alleged incident that according to a police criminal complaint, officers were called to an apartment on Roberts Street in Pittsburgh’s Crawford-Roberts neighborhood around 2 a.m. for a domestic violence situation. Jones and his girlfriend were at the couple’s apartment when officers got there, and police said the residence is listed as an Airbnb. Jones’ girlfriend told police that during an altercation that night, Jones hit her in the face, smashed a video game console over her head, picked her up and “threw her outside.” At some point, the woman told officers, she blacked out and lost consciousness. According to the complaint, Jones’ girlfriend accused him of strangling her. Police said she had abrasions on her face, bruising on her arm and another abrasion on her chest. She was taken to UPMC Presbyterian in stable condition. Jones told officers that after the couple went out earlier that evening, she came home after him and began “breaking items in the apartment and yelling” at him. So, he picked her up and “placed her outside.” Jones was taken into custody and arrested. He has a preliminary hearing on Nov. 24 at the Pittsburgh municipal courthouse.
