Suspicious Object Closes City Streets

The City of Washington Police Department reports that a suspicious object was the reason for the closure of the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Wylie Avenue on Sunday afternoon. An officer arrived at the scene and found an object in the roadway that appeared to be a possible explosive device and immediately shut down the roads. The Allegheny County Bomb Squad was called to detonate the device. They determined that the device was not an explosive. They will attempt to determine exactly what the object was. Roads were closed for approximately three hours.
