Teen To Stand Trial For Shooting Step Father

A sixteen year old from South Strabane Township will face trial for allegedly shooting his step father in front of a business on Murtland Avenue back in December. Samuel Hoy, a juvenile being charged as an adult, was scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Thursday. Prior to the hearing prosecution and defense attorneys agreed to have all charges held for court without a hearing. Hoy faces felony charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, receiving stolen property and a misdemeanor charge of possession of a firearm by a minor. Hoy will be formally arraigned on February 23. He is being held in the Washington County Jail on $2 million bond.
