The Mon Valley is looking to increase its footprint in the world of filmmaking and potential tourism. The 2nd annual Mid-Mon Valley Business symposium held Thursday morning, focused on business opportunities for the area. The group invited the Pennsylvania Film Commissioner, Hollywood actor, writer and director Gino Pesi to speak to the crowd. Pesi, a Charleroi and Belle Vernon native, said his interest in bringing film and opportunities to the area focuses on the dollars behind film-making and tourism. He also says it’s important for local kids like himself to be able to follow their dreams and not have to move thousands of miles away from their families. Pesi said any aspiring filmmakers can reach out to the PA film office to get more information on resources available.
