Washington County Coroner Tim Warco tells WJPA News that two people died following an accident along Interstate 70 near the Claysville Exit just after one o’clock Sunday afternoon.  Warco says one of the victims was a minor who was in the backseat of a vehicle traveling westbound when it crossed the median and collided with a tractor-trailer in the eastbound lanes.  The child, who was not in a car seat, was flown to UPMC Washington Hospital and was pronounced dead in the emergency department.  The driver of the vehicle was flown to a Pittsburgh area hospital and a front seat passenger in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.  Warco says the driver and the front seat passenger were not wearing seatbelts.  The identities of the victims has not been released pending notification of family.  Sources tell us that the tractor-trailer went over a hill and slammed into a house.  Multiple emergency responders assisted at the scene and the interstate in that area was closed in both directions until crews cleared the scene.  The crash is under investigation by State Police.
