Motorists trying to use I-70 westbound through the city Friday afternoon found themselves sitting in delays they likely did not anticipate. A dump truck hauling gravel overturned on the interstate at the Chestnut Street exit shortly after 1:30 in the afternoon. The driver of the truck was not injured but the road was closed for several hours while crews cleared the scene. Traffic was backed up for miles through Washington on alternate routes like 18 and 136 as people scrambled to find ways around the closures and backups. All lanes were reopened before 5pm.
