Trump Downplays Need To Check AI Development

DUBLIN (AP) — President Donald Trump is playing down the need for his administration to check the development of artificial intelligence. He says he’s worried about ceding America’s edge over China in a global competition and that winning would help address the risks from the advancing technology. He told reporters Sunday during his Ireland trip that there’s a need for some regulation. But he provided no specifics about potential rules. He says the U.S. is leading China in the development of AI and “frankly, I want to keep it that way because whoever wins AI wins.”
