Washington 11th Grader Finds Gun On Bathroom Floor

Washington School District Superintendent Alisa King says they are currently reviewing procedures with staff after a student found a gun in a restroom in the high school building. The weapon was found on the floor and belonged to a school resource officer. King, in a statement, said the appropriate disciplinary action was taken in accordance with district policies, but did not disclose exactly what that was.  The mother of Lucas, the eleventh grader who found the gun, Mary Jane Vasko, tells our news partners at WPXI that she feels more should have been done.  She says she’d like to see more communication from the district to parents and a harsher penalty for the officer involved.
