Washington 11th Grader Finds Gun On Bathroom Floor

A local mom is calling for action after her son found a gun inside a boy’s restroom at Washington High School – that belonged to a school resource officer. Mary Jane Vasko is the mother of Lucas, an 11th grader, who found the firearm on the floor in a restroom. News of the discovery of the gun hit various platforms of social media before any information was released by the school. The district’s superintendent, Alisa King has since issued this statement: “We take the safety and security of our students and staff very seriously. We are reviewing our procedures and reinforcing expectations with all staff. Appropriate disciplinary action has been taken in accordance with district policies. We remain committed to maintaining a safe learning environment.” There’s been no word on exactly what disciplinary actions are being taken and the name of the officer involved has not been released.
